The Journey of a Cult is often marked by specific steps.

1. The Grand Vision

A charismatic leader or coaches propose a revolutionary approach pledging a cure for struggling players.

Thus we find ourselves. They’re getting ready to challenge the establishment in Australia. The gunships are circling. Conflict emerges from the sidelines. One individual, exposed, nervous, the phrase ATTACKING MINDSET smeared across his chest as a symbol, has emerged into view and is being led away in secrecy for a temporary assignment at Derbyshire.

Remember the start, when the world was still young? The initial phase, of uninhibited aggression.

2. Love-Bombing

Movement founders promise a reboot, optimism ahead, love, salvation together with shared faith in the method.

What was this thing initially? A team united basking in glory. Tattoos. Strength. Focus. Peak performance vibes. Admittedly, The team insist it’s not a real term, amusingly as it’s denied, what did we see?

Yet it’s clear the concept. It’s the batsman playing a shot so outrageous it has to be pixelated. It’s the thrill of Ben Stokes at his peak, a look that says: pensive Nordic god, strong features, natural look, truly contemporary you wouldn’t be surprised to look down and see him playing in the field stripped to the waist and cradling a wild salmon.

It’s the opener often seen speaking publicly, resembling a happy little woodland creature in a waistcoat, saying stuff like we are actively deconstructing the orange. Certainly, the vibe, for a significant period, was uplifting.

3. The Growth Phase

Development stage. Cohesion maintained via memorization of the cult’s slogans. These ideas may seem irrational to prove commitment.

Does anyone else feel? The criticism, the outrage, the sense of betrayal post-defeat appears excessive, too much. The batting collapsed on the field, as they often do in Australia. They were savaged defensively in a short span as plans unraveled, manipulated by the batsman batting like England but better, adaptive to conditions, a performer excelling with a kind of light around him.

And now we have this the attacks, the rage, the view of the sport as a kind of abomination. How will they respond?

4. Hate Bonding

Issues emerge from failures in the plan. But the cult cannot admit errors. It starts to feed on anger towards critics.

Ultimately, a few days before the upcoming game, we have now reached an intriguing moment in the journey of this movement. They might succeed in the next Test in a blur of adrenal disruption. Probably, defeat could come swiftly. And if they do lose it feels like we could be witnessing the final stage.

Prior to that, there are two things to note regarding this. More than two years ago, during the initial excitement, of optimism and energy, I wrote an article calling it a phenomenon. Criticism followed, which demonstrated as it’s known how to confirm that it’s not a closed group is when its acolytes respond with anger rejecting criticism of its truths.

What has happened recently are fascinating. Opposition to the style has turned into a movement. Social media is furious, disappointed commentators, pictures of upset supporters abroad cheated out of three days of cricket, similar to people wanting fairness.

Conversely, there is the broader context of the opponent’s mixed deep-seated frustration towards the unconventional visitors, claiming, the methods you value and have fostered and nurtured as one way of separating yourself from others, it’s not serious after all.

This is the core issue. Everything is a cult. The style was a trend as the game has its own culture. In fact, the sport in England is closed, a group, a private event, a restricted environment with centuries of opaque and ritualistic cult history behind it. Historically, this was a place where power and access are hoarded. It’s the colonial game of the British, the early image-makers. And guess what, the country is a phenomenon, a structure of hidden ranks, a place that literally still has a king.

The players have been enclosed within this world since childhood. Attempting to break free, to build a better atmosphere, they are mirroring their past, forming a new circle, an exclusive group, but now with a modern squad and a coach who wants you to be yourself if you fit the mold.

Focus on the moment. Run towards the danger. However much you change, things stay similar.

Considering this, it might be appropriate to offer compassion for the approach, to appreciate its good points, that are numerous. What is Bazball? Creating a sense of freedom. Defying norms. Batting aggressively|Attacking with
