Wilfried Nancy insisted he did not fear the sack, claiming, “I believe we are extremely close to things turning around,” in the wake of moving dangerously close to the chopping block with a heavy setback against Rangers.
Another Meltdown Sees Old Firm Defeat
The Hoops were ahead Rangers at the break but a collapse after the break allowed the Gers to move level on points with the defending league title holders. The former MLS manager, who was appointed from Columbus Crew, has now overseen six losses in his first eight matches.
“The board and I are united at the club,” said Nancy.
Pressed on the speculation, the 48-year-old said: “I don’t think about it. I think about working out methods to help my team to improve on small moments.
Fan Fury Outside Parkhead
The fans voiced their fury – towards the hierarchy – in their hundreds at full time. The hierarchy are thought to be considering to bring back the interim manager, who had a fruitful temporary stint before Nancy was hired, if the Frenchman were sacked.

Nancy continues to cling to the fact Celtic can perform strongly for 45 minutes at a time. In fact, if not for wastefulness in front of goal they would have been more than 1-0 up. “There were positives other than the fact that we didn't take our chances,” he said. “I accept that we lost, but it's important to stay fair.
“The level we had at times was really, really, really high. That happened. I could not talk like that if it was untrue. That is the reason, in terms of results, I said we've seen this before. That’s why I feel we are nearly there to a shift in fortunes. Currently: details, details, details.”
“We produced plenty of positives that we did, once more. However it’s about sustaining it. My message would change if I didn't believe it. Therefore I am convinced we’re going to be able to get back on track.”
The Rangers Boss Stance
Rangers manager refused to contemplate a serious challenge in spite of what appeared to be a statement victory. “Step by step, then we can gradually build a challenge,” he said. “The belief in the squad is outstanding.”
