Iran is prepared to reinitiate atomic discussions with Washington on condition that it is handled with "respect" and "respect", Iran's foreign minister has announced.

Abbas Araghchi said solely negotiations was effective, and disclosed fresh requests had originated from go-betweens to reopen talks with the US government. The previous five rounds of negotiations between the US and Iran were concluded unexpectedly and acrimonious end on 12 June when Israel, with American backing, targeted Iranian nuclear sites in a fortnight-long engagement that culminated with Donald Trump claiming the sites had been obliterated. Afterward, European countries employed their authority to reimpose global restrictions, but Iran asserts they have not had a major impact.

Magic Solution Proposed

Iranian officials claimed they felt they had attained a "magic solution" to the uranium processing matter in prior discussions, when it was settled an Iran-based consortium with US participation could process nuclear material. The two nations would have been able to claim victory since domestic enrichment would have remained and the US could be assured that Iran's nuclear programme was solely for peaceful purposes.

It had not been decided in the negotiations that US nuclear scientists could operate within Iranian territory, but that was a reasonable assumption of the partnership suggestion. Representatives asserted three times they had secured an understanding with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff only for the agreement to collapse due to "opponents in the US".

Present Status

Iran's diplomats said the consortium offer was now no longer available, but it seems highly likely the proposal could be revived in various formats if talks restart.

Trump in recent days stated he had been receiving messages that Iran wanted to restart talks, but privately Iran's diplomats say they are not yet getting consistent overtures from America either directly or from important Middle Eastern intermediaries, such as the Qatari government, Egypt, the Omani authorities and Saudi Arabia. The Tehran's diplomatic corps has been criticized of passivity in the aftermath of Washington's unmediated tactics, but Tehran states dialogue is not part of a spectacle.

Diplomatic Position

In his remarks to the gathering, intended to portray the US as a hegemonic power that misuses the notion of worldwide standards, the foreign minister stated the 12-day war revealed the dispute could not be ended by combat operations. He asserted the attacks started with a American requirement for an complete Tehran capitulation and ended with an unconditional call for a ceasefire.
