R360 Competition Players Face 10-Season Exclusion from NRL
The rugby star won 20 caps for the Kiwis before changing representation to the Samoan team.
Rugby league's administration has declared that participants who sign with the “counterfeit” R360 will be barred for a decade.
The new league, scheduled to begin in 2026, is aiming to attract players from union and league with lucrative deals and a condensed game calendar.
Leading National Rugby League stars have reportedly received offers by the new league, which will feature six or eight men's sides and four women's teams based in key urban centers worldwide.
Samoa's the player, who represents his NRL club in the NRL, has confirmed he has had discussions with R360.
Ryan Papenhuyzen, Zac Lomax, Payne Haas and Gray are also said to be weighing up offers from the new competition.
Several leading union countries, among them Australia, last week imposed a ban on R360 recruits playing international matches.
“We have consulted our clubs and we've responded strongly,” stated Australian Rugby League Commission chairman V'Landys.
“Regrettably, there will persistently exist groups that attempt to hijack our game for economic benefit.
“They don't invest in talent pipelines or the advancement of talent. They only leverage the hard work of other organizations, putting players at risk of economic hardship while benefiting financially.
“Essentially, they are, copying the game.”
The league is co-founded by ex-England star Tindall and backed by independent financiers.
After the prospective rugby union bans were revealed last week, it stated: “We want to work together as integrated into the worldwide fixture list.
“The series is structured with customized calendars for both genders and we will permit participants for global fixtures, as specified in their deals.”
R360 will apply for endorsement for its initiatives from rugby union's governing body, union's governing body, at its council meeting in 2026.
