Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
