Fans Call for Custody of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the actress are demanding that a man who leaped a fence and grabbed the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared video shows the person identified as Johnson Wen bypassing camera operators and lunging at Grande while the actors proceeded down a event pathway surrounded by onlookers.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was scheduled to appear on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a performance. His Instagram profile features recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is evidently a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote another response on Instagram.
Some fans also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals called for online networks to block Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips circulating online, Grande seemed surprised when she was approached by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Numerous of fans had gathered in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore mall, including a number who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The film, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-film interpretation of the well-known stage show Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely friendship between two distinct sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
