Week 10 again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills demonstrating the 'any given Sunday' mantra that draws so many people into the NFL
That result may have opened things up for the Patriots to creep back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a remaining games that gives them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Over in the NFC the Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation in week 11, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the MVP award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for the Bills?
Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City last week or something more? That's the question for the Buffalo team to address
The Buffalo squad had secured seven victories in a row against the Dolphins but were second best from the start as the Miami team emerged as 30-13 victors in an surprising outcome - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third period and first points in the fourth - admittedly Miami had 10 days to get ready but it was nonetheless a significant failure laid by one of the NFL's best offenses
Tua Tagovailoa passed for two touchdowns but rusher Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two scores
Containing the NFL's top rushing attack was also key, with Cook and teammates recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the year and just over half their 161.5-yard average
Additionally there were the three crucial turnovers, and the two from Josh Allen specifically. An pass caught by defense in the end zone resulting in a nine minute possession produced nothing, and his fourth-quarter fumble that the Dolphins converted to seven points just two plays
It was typical 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, falling into a hole on defensive side and Josh Allen trying to do too much to rescue his squad out of it - rather than the composed, disciplined, well-balanced Bills we've witnessed this season
Miami have served up a bit of everything this year so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the beginning of something, but for the Bills they'll require an instant response in a tough game against the Buccaneers in week 11 as the New England are sneaking into a nice lead at the top of the AFC East
In Focus - Patriots Identify Route to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the New England, they're among three different 8-2 squads in the league, all AFC sides, but could they be the best?
One could find flaws in the Patriots, the Broncos and the Colts actually for dominating the weaker opponents, with just five of their combined twenty-four victories coming against teams with a positive record - and one example was the Colts defeating the Denver
The Broncos defeated the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the final quarter while Indy can rely on Taylor, but the New England adding Sunday's victory in Tampa to their primtime win in Buffalo appears to be a declaration
Their pair of losses came in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven consecutive victories, just like the Broncos, since then - but taking down Mayfield after the Buccaneers had a bye to prepare was huge
Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he definitely deserves point for courage after taking some savage hits in Tampa but persevering to guide his team to success
The defensive unit is solid and rookie running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exhilerating touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth different ball carrier to break 22mph this season on his first score
While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Pats should be favorites to finish with the best record thanks to their remaining opponents - which includes just one game against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against the Bills
Visiting Baltimore is challenging too, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Chiefs to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also challenge for first place but encounter the same problem) and additionally the Green Bay on the schedule
The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, 49ers and two matchups with the five and four Jacksonville to face. There's a considerable distance to travel but the opportunity is open for a surprise top seed in the American Football Conference
Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Week 11 Showdown
Both squads with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different 8-2 sides are National Football Conference West opponents the Seattle and Los Angeles, who each scored 40 burgers to reach seven and two ahead of next week's Hollywood blockbuster game between the two in LA
Both have won four in a row, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had turnover issues on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units giving up under 20 points a contest
Each could realistically be undefeated as too - particularly the Rams as their pair of losses came in overtime against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a game-winning kick with the final play deflected and returned by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
The Seahawks also lost to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in week one, before falling to the final play of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they're genuinely among the top teams in the NFL
The next matchup on Sunday could be the best of the season so far
Player of the Week - Jonathan Taylor
Taylor could be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - running for 244 rushing yards, registering three touchdowns and adding another forty-two {receiving yards
