Arsenal's goalkeeper Backs Squad Depth as Key to Multiple Trophy Pursuit

The Spanish shot-stopper has declared that intense competition for starting positions is propelling Arsenal's impressive performance, with the goalkeeper believing that the squad's depth under Mikel Arteta is so remarkable that they can contend for multiple honors this season.

Stunning Wins Highlight Arsenal's Prowess

Arsenal's latest 4-0 triumph over Atlético Madrid marked their sixth straight victory and 10th success in 12 matches. Having let in just three goals—a record low at this stage in the club's history—Arsenal have established a one-point lead at the top of the table and a flawless start in the Champions League after three matches.

Squad Changes and Depth Crucial to Success

Raya has featured in almost all matches, except for one domestic cup fixture, but the manager has consistently rotated the lineup following significant summer investment on new signings. When asked about chasing multiple trophies, Raya said, "Absolutely, I believe so. The depth is amazing. There are numerous options who can excel in two, three, or four roles."

For instance, against Atlético, Mikel Merino came on as a striker and can also play as a central midfielder or No 10. That versatility is available to the manager, and he's using it to our advantage. Things appear extremely promising, and that depth is very important for us.

Rivalry Drives Performance

The Spain international continued, "That provides an additional edge in training and matches because if you slack off, you can lose in a fraction of a second. It creates healthy competitiveness in sessions and during matches, which is really, really important, and everyone is on board."

Defensive Solidity a Team Achievement

The team have let in just a single goal from regular play so far, and Raya has faced a mere one attempt in their recent victories against three opponents.

"Everyone contributes from the striker to the goalie," he said. "Each player is committed, determined not to give anything away, and we aim to intercept the ball before it reaches the midfield. If we intercept, it allows a quick counter. This is essential for the entire team to understand this mentality, and opponents aren't creating numerous opportunities, which is ideal."
