A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Police detained a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
